Three business cards

Each card is a real 3D model with its true thickness, plies and relief. Drag to turn it. Move across it and the light follows.

Lattice and Glasshouse use the OG logo, taken directly from the original vector file. Held uses the house-heart mark, which only exists as an image, so it was redrawn as clean vector curves and checked against that image. The phone number on the cards is a placeholder and the job title comes from the 2024 offer letter; both get updated before print. Size is 90 x 54 mm.

1

Lattice

The crystal from the logo is pressed into white cotton board with no ink, so the card stays white until a low light draws it.

StockBright white uncoated cotton, about 810 gsm triplex. Colorplan Triplex is 810 gsm from three 240 gsm sheets; a thinner teal core is what makes the fine line shown, so the printer confirms what they can laminate.
Plies3: white, teal core, white. Shown here as 1.0 mm with a 0.14 mm core. With three equal sheets the line is closer to 0.3 mm.
PassesSculpted blind emboss on the face sheet, letterpress grey and teal, then lamination so the impression stays off the back. Order and depth are confirmed by the printer on a test print.
FinishNo ink on the emblem. Edge is the bare teal core, with no paint.
Finest lineEmblem gaps measure 0.51 mm (1.4 pt) at the narrowest at this crop, above the 1 pt limit for blind work. The small lockup tagline has a 0.24 pt stem at 36 mm wide, about 3.1 pt type: that needs a printer check.

Reference LOV by Principle Design, FPO Awards 2012, Offset category, three stars. Duplex lamination, a blind emboss protected by the lamination, and an edge that hides the seam and carries the colour.

2

Held

A dark, soft board with the house and heart raised in foil at four heights, and a row of thirty ticks on the back for a month of daily check-ins.

StockDeep teal-black soft board, duplex mounted, about 1.1 mm shown. Colour match is for the printer to confirm.
Plies2 mounted, so the emboss does not read through to the back.
PassesThree foil hits: satin teal, gloss light teal, deep teal. One sculpted multi-level emboss die. Tone-on-tone gloss foil for the back. Teal edge paint. Painting before embossing is an unverified suggestion: embossing may let paint seep into gaps, so the printer tests it. A deboss that is too deep makes foil bleed.
FinishRoof highest, then left lobe, right lobe and the overlap lowest: about 0.36, 0.27, 0.19 and 0.09 mm in this model.
Finest lineBack ticks are 0.50 mm wide (1.4 pt), above the 1 pt limit. Smallest back type is 6.2 pt tone foil, which has to pass a printer proof to stay readable.

Glasshouse

A stepped hexagon is cut down through laminated sheets, so the card has a small glazed room in it with the emblem on its floor.

StockColour-through teal board for the face, close to #00B6B5, then three paler tint sheets and a pale base. Colour matches are suggestions for the printer to confirm.
Plies5 at about 0.35 mm each, about 1.75 mm in all. Four are die-cut. Thickness is the main cost question.
PassesDie-cut each cut sheet, foil the floor sheet, print the back, laminate with the hexagons registered, then trim. Order is confirmed by the printer on a test print.
FinishDeep teal gloss foil emblem on the floor, teal foil name on the back. The edge shows every sheet.
Finest lineEmblem gaps on the floor measure 0.15 mm (0.43 pt), which is under the 1 pt limit for blind work, so this emblem is flat foil with no relief. The small lockup tagline matches Lattice: 0.24 pt stem, needs a printer check.
